"Slumps"

Piles of sand in the upper right of the photo were called "slumps." This was debris dirt from the trench. After excavation and removal of the artifacts, these trenches were back filled. In this photo you can see 10 women. Typical work crews consisted of about 40 women, and two male archaeologists.
