She is painstaking and faithful and is probably worth to the archaeologist more than some of the higher priced men." Graduate students in anthropology, or related fields, were hired to assist in the technical supervision of the project, such as mapping, recording, and laboratory analysis. The women excavators were classified as unskilled laborers, and by some accounts, were paid less than $18 a month.
